Quest'articolo su "The Observer" mi ha meravigliata!
La giornalista Sophie Middlemiss propone un viaggetto a Pristina, perchè (non sembra ci siano altre ragioni) è il paese più nuovo sul mappamondo!
(anche se finora il Kosovo indipendente è stato riconosciuto solo da una trentina di paesi)
Non solo non si scomoda a spiegare la differenza della visita al museo di Ibrahim Rugova (architetto dell'indipendenza del Kosovo) ed il monastero ortodosso di Gracanica (quindi serbo) perchè tanto sono solo distanti 10 min di taxi l'un dall'altro, ma come consiglio shopping manda il povero lettore a comprarsi un film su DVD (si vede che a Londra non ci sono!) oppure un accendino con su la faccia di Tony Blair e per la pausa caffè propone un bel macchiato (magari italiano) con un buon muffin (neanche questa è una vera specialità del Kosovo).

Is it enough to visit a country only because it's the "newest"?
(Not speaking of the fact that not even 30 countries in the world recognized its independence so far)
But here it plays on the complete stupidness of the reader and it implements what follows:
a) that the reader never heard about tensions in the Kosovo Area or if he heard about he doesn't mind at all (it's more important to tell to friends: I've been there first in the newest country!)
b) when the reader thinks shopping, then he craves some DVD's in Albanian or Serbian language. (yes, the journalist recommends shopping arthouse DVD's or lighters with Tony Blair-pictures in Prishtina! What a precious advise! thank you!)
c) that the reader doesn't need explications or preparations after visiting the Ibrahim Rugova museum (the architect of Kosovo indipendence) to go straight to visit the Serbian Orthodox monastery of Gracanica, because it's "just a 10 Min. taxi ride" of distance.
d) that the reader want's absolutely to fly to Prishtina to have a coffee break with a "Macchiato" (I'd rather would try that in Italy) and a Muffin (you can get fabulous ones in the U.S.A). Ehm, no comment!
Now, don't get me wrong: nothing speaks against travelling the Balkans, but there is a little difference between a weekend trip to Paris and a "Instant trip to Prishtina".
Am I completely wrong about that? Your opinion interests me!
